Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English literature. Mitchell began her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including weapons control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
